Research and Strategy

The communication and public relations fields are highly research-based. Since my undergraduate work, 20 years ago, I’ve researched case studies to identify best practices for articles, papers and presentations, agency-wide strategic planning and rebranding initiatives, fundraising, and communication planning and strategy.

It’s about constantly asking, who is the audience, what is the desired outcome, what is the message, and what is the best way to deliver it?

My ability to think strategically has earned me a role in three different leadership roles, as well as on a variety of strategic planning committees. It also made me the logical person to lead Niagara Cerebral Palsy’s successful rebranding to Empower in 2015, and Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services’ agency-wide technology initiatives in 2012.

Content Development

A good story is remembered long after it’s been told.

From social media to websites and direct mail appeals to print materials, content development and design goes in hand with strategy to deliver the most effective, most memorable content for the given communication platform.

What is the message, and what is the best way to deliver it? What is the intended outcome?

I have copywriting experience in a variety of formats, including websites, blogs, newspaper and magazine articles, internal and external newsletters, brochures, flyers, direct mailings, digital marketing, and grant and funding proposals, among others.

Most recently, I served as a producer for Medaille College’s new alumni initiative, Life Well Learned.

Relationship Building

The power of good relationships is often overlooked. I’ve spent my entire professional life working to building strong working relationships. Whether with colleagues, students, board members, community partners, traditional and non-traditional members of the media, donors, foundations, vendors, and everyone in between, I’ve learned not to underestimate the collaborative opportunities that emerge from building relationships. This includes internally, with all colleagues, regardless of each individual’s role in the organization.

My varied scope of work is the result of successful collaborations, respectful and effective communication efforts, and development and maintenance of strategic partnerships.

My expertise in the this area is reflected in all areas of my work, including strategic planning, media and community engagement, event management, funding solicitations, and the development of communication plans and materials.
